Dear valued guest,

A Shear Encounter has gone through many seasons. Big 80’s hair, Y2K, a new millennium, and through a pandemic, all while being humbled by many awards and achievements along with our greatest accomplishment of being recognized as one of the “Top 200 fastest growing salons in the Nation” in 2001 & 2006. Considering the culmination of our vision, superlative service, outstanding staff, and YOU our amazing loyal clientele, we’ve achieved great success! We thank you for all your support over the last 38 years, as we leave behind our family legacy, of being in the beauty business in Elmhurst, since 1948.

As the only remaining original tenant in Prairie Center, we are now faced with an un-renewable lease. After offering to restructure or downsize we were ultimately told by the landlord that “they could make more money without us being there.” An anchor tenant for over 25 years, building our salon from the ground up in 1988, we find this shameful and goes against our core values as ethical businesswomen. Customer care has always been the epitome of our culture, never placing money, but people as an emphasis. Still, we kept praying and believing for change. We understand this comes with short notice, but with great reflection, much searching, and consideration, we find it necessary to encounter the next season embracing change. We have decided it best to retire effective April 14th and step out from being behind the chair, other than Ginger.

We can have all the righteous anger we want, but we choose not to. We are in full agreement we must release to embrace what God has next for us. Verna will be enjoying her cottage, fishing, and enjoying nature. Grace will get to spend time with her granddaughter, Ginger, a newlywed will be renting a chair with a colleague uptown Elmhurst @120 N York suite 111, and still working very part-time, and Claudia will be enjoying the summer off with her family while children will be off of school, then find the perfect position thereafter.

Liquidation sale on all product and merchandise is 40% off April 1-14th.

Any outstanding valid gift certificates can be redeemed for service or product up until close on the 14th of April, and accepted in Downers Gove location thereafter. We refer our business to either Ginger or our Downers Grove location which is family owned, and they will treat you as such. All of Ginger’s pre- scheduled appointments will be moved over, and she looks forward to seeing you! We appreciate your understanding, love, and support.

God wins!
